Summary: A serial killer walks around and kidnaps children - every 17th of a month a child was found drowned in pipes. Special Agent Takizawa tries everything to get him, but till now it was impossible, so he gets a new partner: Agent Nishikido, who is a genius in computer and technique, and maybe together they are able to catch the culprit. But then comes the day when Takki starts to run against his biggest fear, and his world starts to break down....

She had to choose between numbers and letters, and each was a pairing and setting, and so 2-B-white is Tackey/Ryo, AU and crime. ^^ And thanks for choosing a title to sweetspicyhot Note 3: I made a banner for this story, I will post it in every chapter ^_^
„You can place your things where you want to. But maybe the living room table is big enough for your work.” Tackey guided Ryo into his apartment and showed him the possible places where he could arrange his equipment.
“Yes, it seems to be perfect. I will put down anything here. There is enough place for anything I think.” Ryo smiled and saw Tackey nodding at him.
“I will make some tea as long as you are working on it.” With this he disappeared in the kitchen and let the other one doing his work. Computer was never his strong point, so he let the other one do, and he’d stay in the background and just being the helping hand if it was necessary.
“Did you manage it, Ryo?” Tackey said after a while and saw the other one’s strained face. On his table were three laptops and various other stuff, and Tackey didn’t dare to touch any of them. He just sat down on his couch on the other side of the table and waited till Ryo looked up at him and gave him a big smile.
“I think I got it now. Come here and look. There is something interesting in the picture I took.” Ryo waved his hand and waited till Tackey stood next to him. “Look at these. There are some small scratches on her arm. They are nearly invisible and maybe the pathologist didn’t even saw them. They look like traces from boughs and I found some pollen in there. Look, the yellow points on the picture mark the points where this pollen appeared. So maybe she was in a forest before she came to the pipe.” Ryo pointed at the picture and saw Tackey nodding at him.
“What are these black points on her dress?” Tackey looked at Ryo, who drove the mouse above the marks and Tackey saw a small information appearing in the corner of the monitor. “Another plant?”
“It seems so. Everything indicates that she was in the forest before she got killed. Maybe the killer waits a few days till he kills his victims?” Ryo suggested and sipped on his tea. “Is there a chance to meet her parents?”
“Yes, of course. I can arrange a meeting, if you want me to”, Tackey answered and stared at the picture on the laptop. “I really hope we get this bastard soon. I don’t want to see another child suffering, and another family breaking down because of him.” Tackey felt the anger in him rising up and he walked back to his couch to avoid looking at the picture of the girl again.
Ryo followed him and sat down on the other side of the couch where Tackey had a comfortable chair. “It’s horrible, I really hope we can get him, but I think the culprit knows exactly what he can do and how far he can go.”
Tackey nodded at this and rubbed his temples. Since he started his job this was the first time he was afraid of never catching the killer. It was like a nightmare, which couldn’t be caught, and which no one could stop.
“Do you have children, Ryo?”
Ryo blinked at that, but finally smiled gently at the other one. “No, and I think I will never have some, but I really love children, and you Tackey?”
“No, same at my place, but I have a nine year old niece, and believe me, I love her more than anything else. And the fact that there is a killer outside doesn’t make my nights much calmer.” Tackey frowned and he felt a shiver running down his spine when he thought about seeing his niece in Yokoyama’s hall, or on one of Ryo’s pictures.
Ryo nodded at him and looked absent-minded out of the window. Like so often he got totally lost in his thoughts and day dreamed away till he heard Tackey’s voice from far away. “What? Sorry, I was a bit lost in thoughts right now.”
Tackey smiled at him and titled his head a bit. He somehow liked the cute but calm and actually thoughtful and wise attitude the other one showed till now. He shook his head to forget about the thoughts he had, because private things shouldn’t be mixed up with work in this moment. “I wanted to ask, if I shall order something to eat? We both had nothing till midday and I thought we could eat together and speak about some facts and some things we can investigate during the next days. And maybe you can tell me about your work, and how exactly you want to manage all this computer stuff.”
Ryo looked up at the other one and knitted his eyebrows, before he agreed to the other one’s suggestion. “Why do you look like this?” Tackey wanted to know and saw Ryo grinning at him. “I thought you were a grumpy, unfriendly and cold type at all, but somehow you are really nice.”Ryo blushed because of his words, and bit on his lips.
“Why did you think, no wait, why does anyone think I am grumpy and unfriendly?” Tackey sighed and rubbed above his head. He knew he wasn’t the funniest police officer, and often he sat in the group and said nothing, but it wasn’t because he was in a bad mood, or he disliked the others, it was just him. He never was the loud and explosive character, as long as no one went on his nerves.
“I don’t know, maybe because you are really calm, and honestly I think everyone is afraid of you, Tackey.” Ryo bit on his lips, because he didn’t know why he had the confidence to speak with someone in this way, even though he didn’t even know him for a long time. But he felt that Tackey and he had some things in common, and somehow they were quite similar in some points.
“Afraid of me?! Really?” Tackey couldn’t believe the other one’s words, but he wasn’t upset or angry because of that, it mostly amused him that the guys were thinking in this way about him. “It seems so”, Ryo giggled and all the fear before he came to Tokyo was gone in one minute.
“Pizza is alright for you?” Tackey asked and took the menu list from the pin board in his kitchen. “Yes, of course”, Ryo answered and walked up to him.
“I take tuna, and you?”
“No fish, that’s for sure, I take, hm, classical salami and cheese.”, Ryo pointed at the pizza he wanted.
Both sat in the living room and ate their pizza when Tackey's mobile rang and he jumped up, throwing the meal down on the floor.
“What happened, Tackey?” Ryo asked and stood up to help the other one collecting the pizza on the floor.
“Another victim, we shall come to the office now. If it's the same as the last times, we have four days to find the girl, otherwise...”Tackey stopped and saw his new partner just nodding at him and they left everything behind to drive back to the office.

Apparantly the culprit has a connection to Takki. Just what kind of connection? Is it hate? Revenge? Unrequited love? Did Takki do something in his role as a police officer to anger this guy? Is it something more complicated? An accident? Or something that happened many years ago?
Because the culprit seems to know quite well what to do... There has to be a reason he chooses children.
This story is really thrilling and at the same time so sad.
So I really liked the lighter moments between Takki and Ryo. It's so cute when Ryo realizes that Takki isn't scary and grumpy... he is just calm. <3

Date: 2011-10-31 05:49 am (UTC)I love Tackey's reaction about how he is viewed in the department--Mr. Grumpy-san. Well of course we know him to be caring and considerate, and now Ryo is finding that out too.
The children make me sad. You do a great job showing how even a seasoned veteran like Tackey has trouble with these cases. And Ryo and Tackey will talk with the parents, that will be heartbreaking.
Now, they must team up together to find this latest missing child. I am on the edge of my seat with this one. Can't wait for the next chapter!

And I wonder if the killer will take takki's niece, I have a feeling the net victim may be her, just so the killer can taunt him. After all it seems he hates his guts.

i'm a sucker for detective and crime stories and this one really drew me in
i love ryo and his expertise. specially when he deduced about the victim was in a forest before drown in the sewer.

Date: 2011-11-01 11:45 pm (UTC)btw, there is sooooo much to adore in this chappie... u included their relationship n their investigation all at once~ i love how they slowly warm up against each other... n maybe takki was the difficult guy in ryo's eyes, but being in a vulnerable state like takki is currently, i'm sure he can loose his senses too... i like how takki is the one who initiated the personal conversation with ryo, n how ryo was taken aback at his kind approach~~ ♥♥♥
takki talking about his niece is kinda heart breaking to me... somehow it reminded me to takki's little bro that he claimed look like pi... n dont tell me the niece is gonna die too~~ ;________________;
the investigation... umm... i wonder why ryo concluded the scratch might come from the forest... coz as far as i know, fine scratch might probably come from paper cuts or something... especially the scratch is sooo fine that the pathologist might not notice... why dont u make ryo explain more in the next chappie?? i hope they'll get the lead this time... i need to read the next chapter~~

Yes, they slowly get warm with each other, and they try hard to make it work between them, because they have to solve a case together. ^^
Ah, yes Takki's little brother, I thought of him too during writing this chapter.
I don't say anything about his niece, but you aren't the first one who thought of her.
Ah, about the scratches .... I have to think about it ... because I have written the whole story, and I have to change some small things in the next chapters.
And yes, the culprit has something against Takki. ^^
